About Scott
I serve as managing editor on staff at the Pentecostal Evangel, the weekly magazine of the Assemblies of God. My other identities include husband to Jodie Harrup; father to Lindsay, Connor and Austin Harrup; and general lackey to our cat, Alex, and our dog, Suki, an imperious but otherwise likable Lhasa apso.
I lived in Africa for nearly eight years when my parents served as missionaries with the Assemblies of God in Sierra Leone and Kenya. That was in the ’70s, an era when I admit to wearing very wide belts, polyester and some of those ridiculous faux-silk shirts with patterns held over from the Age of Aquarius.
I graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., with a degree in communications/journalism, and have my sights on a master’s degree at Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. (A lifelong goal, perhaps?)
I’ve served in various editing and writing capacities at the Assemblies of God headquarters in Springfield since 1986, with the exception of nine months spent at home as a starving artist.
